At Australian Freestyle Combat in Epping, VIC, we offer comprehensive Freestyle Filipino Concepts classes in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. Developed by Mick Nicholls, these classes blend together Kali, Arnis, and Escrima—three martial arts systems from the Philippines that focus on personal development and protection rather than sport. Our approach ensures you learn practical, real-world self-defense skills that go beyond the basics.
Freestyle Filipino Concepts covers the full spectrum of Filipino martial arts. You’ll train with single sticks or baston, double sticks, stick and knife (espada y daga), staff, pocket stick, and knives (both single and double). Additionally, you will learn empty-hand techniques based on Panantukan, the Filipino boxing style. This extensive curriculum is rare, as many systems focus on just single or double stick techniques. Mick Nicholls has meticulously crafted this system to incorporate the best techniques he has learned since he began training in Filipino martial arts in 1979.
